Kelly Loeffler (R-GA) is a Senator from Georgia who was just voted out of office to Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) in the special GA runoff election. Kelly was appointed to the US Senate by Brain Kemp (R-GA) who is the governor. She was appointed after after Republican senator Johnny Isakson resigned for health reasons. If she would have won, she would have held the seat until 2023. Kelly is a lifelong conservative, who is proud of her voting with President Trump "100% of the time". She is the richest member of congress, with an estimated $800 million net worth. During her 2020 campaign, Loeffler was investigated for insider trading during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the November election, was out performed by Warnock. However, neither of them garnered enough of the vote (50% required to be senator). Thus leading to the run off. Being the richest member of Congress, she has money to spare. More than enough of it too. She has donated to anti-abortions causes, anti- LGBT causes and to Trump's reelection attempt. Her husband donated $1 million to Trump, which is his largest "donation" to this day. She is the only person in Congress that voted with Trump 100% of the time. In the senate, Loeffler has sponsored 42 bills and cosponsored 187. She also served on several sub-committees such as Agriculture and Veterans affairs. She is just 100% conservative. In Georgia, why wouldn't she appeal to voters? Well, the answer is quite simple. Stacey Abrams. A former candidate for GA governor, Abrams has not taken this 2020 election cycle easily. She focused on combatting voter suppression and registering new voters, especially black voters. This caused Georgia to go blue for Biden and to elect two new democratic senators. It looks like Georgia has the chance to remain a democratic state in the coming years. Kelly's runoff performance was poor due to her messy campaign. Her only "tactic" was to instill fear in the voters. She said "Radical Liberal Raphael Warnock" 13 times in one debate. Her robotic behavior during the debate also suggested that she had an ear piece. Her campaign was built in fear and lies and I think that is what cost her the reelection. Kelly also tried to side with the voters. Saying she "knows" how to live paycheck to paycheck. Kelly grew up on a farm where she learned the importance of "faith, family and hard work". She ran her campaign on being a "business woman" and a "political outsider". She also ran as a close ally to President Trump, often defending him 100%. Her campaign value of hard work and "political outsider" was lost in her defending Trump and promising to reject the electoral vote, which she did not do. This is probably due to the attack on the capitol aka. an attempted coup. While she tried to get the lower class vote, it just didn't happen. She is one of the owners of the 'Atlanta Dream' WNBA team, which actively campaigned for her opponent. Her campaign is truly one of the messiest I have seen in a while. During her concession speech, she quoted her time in office as "the honor of a lifetime". She also says the fight for "conservative values" and "against the radical left" is far from over. What could this mean for Kelly in the future? I believe she is already planning for a 2024 run for the presidency. If she runs her campaign for the White House as bad as she did for the Senate, she stands no chance. I am predicting a rather large Republican primary in 2024, like we saw in 2020 with the Dems and in 2016 for the Republican party. I am sure Kelly will be apart of it. I am interested to see where she goes from this messy loss for the GA senate seat and Kelly will be mentioned in my next post "Turning on Trump". Stay tuned.
