Wow. It's been a while. I was definitely not expecting to take a step away from the blog but I had some things come along and a break was necessary. But-- I think I am back for a while. Today we will be talking about Kayleigh McEnany, one of Trump's many former press secretaries.

Kayleigh McEnany (R-FL) served as the White House press secretary from April 2020 to January 2021. She was a political commentator on Fox and later on CNN early on in her career. She was very critical and opposed to Donald Trump (R-FL) in the primaries. However, Kayleigh grew to be a Trump annoyance and key player in the administration. In 2017, she was appointed national spokesperson for the Republican National Committee. As she and Trump became close allies, she received the position of national spokesperson for his unsuccessful re-election campaign in 2019.

In 2020, she rose to the spotlight as Trump's 4th press sec. She was quick to defend Trump without question off the bat from her first briefing. The first problem, in my opinion, was the lack of briefings to the press in times of crisis. She had a tough approach to the position which often included lies, yelling, and more lies. She promised to never lie, however she never stopped. "I will never lie to you. You have my word on that." She promised on Day One, broken on Day One.

I think the problem is she was afraid to show signs of weakness by not knowing an answer, so she would make one up. She is also notorious for his binder. Many others in the position before her used one too, however, she used to it answer every question and seemed to have pre-scripted answers to everything. Take a look at a photo of the binder and the topics she had at the ready. Some of the ones that stick out are Obama (D-IL) and Hogan (R-MA).

In October, she along with many other Trump suck-ups tested positive for Covid-19. In previous days, she had held some mask-less briefings. On Election Day, she claimed a false and premature Trump victory. She spread many false conspiracies and baseless claims about the election even after it was handed to Joe Biden. She continued to lie, yell, and spread misinformation throughout her entire tenure.

She is seen amongst Trump supporters as a potential candidate for 2024, however, she has no experience qualifying her. Her tenure was messy and she holds a place in my heart as my least favorite Trump press secretary. I may cover some of them in a future post so stay tuned!
